Can I Be Quiet at Sleep
Many people feel that hypnosis is some kind of mind trick or mind control. And there are people who take advantage of the mystery surrounding hypnosis, and it how it works for their own benefit.
But in fact the process is just the voluntary retraining of the subconscious mind to respond to certain stimuli in a different way.
The brain receives billions of messages from the five senses every day. Most of this information is processed by the brain without us even thinking about it at a conscious level. The part of the brain that filters all this information is called the Reticular Activating System (RAS).
We have the ability to consciously think about only one thought at a time. When we really concentrate on a particular task our brain filters out all the irrelevant information (via the RAS) and accepts only information associated with the task. You may have seen this in your children, watching TV. While they are watching their favorite program nothing else is important. Although you call them, you eventually may have to shout to get their attention and break through their RAS filter. You may have also experienced this yourself. Have you ever been interrupted while day dreaming or missed a turn while driving because you were thinking of something else?
The RAS works while you are asleep just as efficiently. Many people live in noisy busy cities. At night the RAS blocks out unwanted noise like traffic and police sirens. But it still lets in noises that people need to hear like crying babies or a ringing phone. When city people move to the country and country people move to the city it may take awhile to retrain the RAS to filter out the right noises. For some people this retraining may never happen.
The US government defines Hypnosis as having 2 parts:
1. The bypass of the critical factor and
2. The establishment of acceptable selective thinking.
The first part simply means override limiting beliefs. For someone to walk over hot coals without burning their feet requires that person to overcome the limiting belief they will get burnt.
The second part is about the process of inducing an environment or state of mind that is open to a change in thinking. For somebody to be hypnotized they must be a willing participant in allowing their mind to enter this environment. You can¡¯t be hypnotized unless you allow it.
Hypnosis to overcome snoring is not about mind control or any black magic. It is about preparing the subconscious mind and retraining the RAS to respond to certain stimuli (snoring) in a different manner.
People don't snore when they are awake because as soon as they hear themselves they change the way they are breathing. What if you could change the way your Reticular Activating System filters the snoring sound when you are asleep? Rather than ignoring or filtering out the sound what if it became the stimulus to change the way you are breathing.
This is what hypnosis is all about. If you are open to the change, hypnosis can be beneficial in solving your snoring problem.
